pypi server

The Pypi server (pypiserver)

The pypiserver is a minimal Python Package Index (PyPI) compatible server for the package installers (pip or easy_install).
The Python Package Index (PyPI) is a repository of software for the Python programming language.

Instrumentation Division (ID) use case

Goal: pypiserver as a service to distribute ID build software.

Accessibility to this repository:

Privileged access using Yubikeys

yubico-piv-tool is needed initially to setup your yubico device. yubico-piv-tool is available with most Linux distributions. It is included in EPEL on RHEL systems. You can also download it using the below link.

        1. Change PIN

The PIN must be between 6 and 8 characters long, and it can be any type of alphanumeric character.

User Accounts Frequently Asked Questions

User Accounts FAQ:

  • Request SDCC Account

Please check the below link to fulfill the requirements needed for an active SDCC account and then to fill out the new user form

             https://www.sdcc.bnl.gov/information/getting-started/new-user-account

NoMachine Frequently Asked Questions

 Authentication failure issues

  • There is a 120 seconds limit to enter the OTP token, if the time limit is exceeded gives the message of authentication failed and to try again.
  • When the wrong credentials are given(either kerberos password or OTP token) couple of times, the SDCC account will get locked out and in this case NX will give "Authentication Failed, please try again" message.

Experiment-managed Jupyter Areas

Managing Jupyter for Experiments

There are methods to customize both jupyter kernels listed in a running session (based on the $JUPYTER_PATH environment variable) and the actual jupyterlab sessions themselves both based on the user's group. Launching in a custom jupyterlab environment allows the different experiments that SDCC supports to maintain their own jupyterlab extensions and plugins. Launching a custom kernel allows the running of experiment-provided setup scripts to prepare the environment in the notebook with your software.

AFS Distributed File System Service

AFS file system service at the SDCC

The SDCC provides AFS (Andrew File System) service for RHIC and US Atlas users. The service provides worldwide access to files, allowing users to share information more easily. The rhic.bnl.gov AFS cell holds information for RHIC users and the usatlas.bnl.gov AFS cell holds information for US Atlas users. On SDCC systems, the cells are visible at /afs/rhic.bnl.gov and /afs/usatlas.bnl.gov in the local file system name space.

US-ATLAS NFS Service at the SDCC

NFS is one of the means though which working space is made available to US-ATLAS users. The NFS storage space comes in two flavors, backed up and un-backed up. The former is predominantly the user home directories, although there are a few exceptions. The later constitutes the bulk of the available NFS storage. Specific US-ATLAS working groups have dedicated storage space, submit a trouble ticket to request access to working group storage space.

Docker Registry

SDCC support container usage on various SDCC computing nodes.  A docker registry was setup for users to store and use docker images . SDCC users should be able to pull/push images there from SDCC networks and BNL campus network.

A pull through cache registry is also available for users to access public dockerhub images from SDCC computer nodes.
