The SDCC hosts a CernVM-FS (CVMFS) Stratum Zero service for hosting and publishing experiment software. Note that in order to make use of this service, you must first gain approval from your experiment liaison, who will communicate to the SDCC that your account should be enabled for writing to your CVMFS repository.
Two write hosts, cvmfswrite0{6,7}.sdcc.bnl.gov, have been enabled with special partitions and mechanisms to allow authorized experiment members to write into their respective repositories. To use this service:
The RCF runs backups on selected Network File System (NFS) and Andrew File System (AFS) file systems on a nightly basis. These backups are for site disaster recovery only. Data restoration is available for approved requests only. If restoration is required, users should contact their Experiment Liaison to see if they meet the requirements for a special restoration request.
Note: In general, files are retrievable within 30 days of loss.
AFS
The rhic.bnl.gov and usatlas.bnl.gov AFS cells are backed up daily.
Selected NFS file systems at the RACF have implemented quotas. Using the generic UNIX quota command will work.

One daemon is simply a logserver that writes log-messages from the running jobs to a folder in the reco-user's (local) home directory.
