Information on the SFTP gateways - 

Users should use to access the sftp gateways and transfer files. 

There are many graphical clients available like WinSCP that users can download and install. 

SSH keys should be used to access the sftp gateways. 

GPFS and NFS home directory filesystems are available through the SFTP gateways.  

The gateways do not allow interactive access or allow scp transfers for security reasons. 

Example - 

sftp /local_destination

usage: sftp [-1246aCfpqrv] [-B buffer_size] [-b batchfile] [-c cipher]
          [-D sftp_server_path] [-F ssh_config] [-i identity_file] [-l limit]
          [-o ssh_option] [-P port] [-R num_requests] [-S program]
          [-s subsystem | sftp_server] host
       sftp [user@]host[:file ...]
       sftp [user@]host[:dir[/]]
       sftp -b batchfile [user@]host

use "-r" to recursively copy directories. 

To download a file using sftp - 

sftp [user][/dest_path/file] [/local_path]

To Upload a file using sftp - 

sftp {user}[remote_dir] <<< $'put [local_file_path]'



Users can also use SSHFS with the sftp gateways. SSHFS allows you to mount a remote filesystem using SFTP
