The people present at BNL met to discuss a run plan for the weekend. It is based on the a) a very good fraction of the plan put forward about 10 days ago has been completed i.e 90 deg MRS A/B polarity at 2kG wiith about 1+1+2+2 M events 4 deg FS A/B polarity at 1/5 field. b) there is a crucial need for calibration data for MRS. This can be best achieved by going to 40 deg. To overlap best with the last years run the setting will be at 3kG A/B polarity. c) The FS needs some more statistics at 1/5 files at 4 deg which will be next. d) since the T3 will/have not be put in before the long Labour day weekend, the decision/recommendation is to go to larger angles next where the FFS is most effective , and where it is more likely that tracking from T5,T4 to T2 will work well. I enclosed the suggested plan in this e-mail and encourage comments. Iif beam is good this might be completed by mid-next week. The running scenario is physics running from now until wed morning (extended labour day weekend at BNL) Once T3 is back in my recommendation is to go to higher fields and more forward angles to get to the highest rapidities for protons, pions. flemming Item MRS Goal Angle Field Trigger 1 Completed Comments 1 40 0 .5M Look at 40 deg performance+assemble statistics for 2 40 3A 1M calibrations+repeat y=0.7 p-bar/p 3 40 3B 1M 4 40 3A 1M 5 40 3B 1M 6 90 2A 1M Get good statiscs 4M total for 90 deg 7 90 2B 1M 8 90 2A 1M 9 90 2B 1M 10 90 0 .5M 11 90 2A 1M 12 90 2B 1M 13 90 2A 1M 14 90 2B 1M 13 90 4B 1M Better High p measurements 14 90 4A 1M FS Angle Field Trigger 1 Completed Comments 1 4 1/5B 2M 2 4 1/5A 2M 3 6 1/5A .5M D3=0 4 6 1/5A 2M 3 6 1/5A 2M 4 6 1/5B 2M 7 6 1/5A .5M D3=0 8 6 1/5A 2M 9 6 1/5A 2M 10 6 1/5B 2M 11 12 13 14 ------------------------------------------------------ Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Brookhaven National Laboratory tlf: 631-344-4106 fax 631-344-1334 e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov
