On Tuesday morning 6/17, all remaining BRAHMS nodes will be migrated to the new LSF 5.1 cluster. During this transition, the OpenAFS client will also be upgraded. This is for both CRS and CAS nodes.

When the changeover occurs, all jobs running or pending in the BRAHMS batch queues will be terminated, along with any local or interactive jobs accessing AFS volumes. The batch queues will close on the night before the switch; any jobs submitted up to that point will be given a chance to complete by morning.

In order to avoid losing submitted jobs, users are encouraged to submit their jobs to the new LSF cluster, which is fully functional on the new (fastest) servers. Jobs running on those machines will be unaffected by the transition and will be able to run on the full cluster after the changeover, with no further user intervention.

The interactive nodes currently available for job submission on the new batch cluster are rcas0024-0033

PLEASE NOTE: When logging on to these nodes, your LSF environment variables and PATH will now be set automatically. These variables have changed, so, in order to run any LSF commands, you need to remove any lines which might be setting these variables in your personal startup scripts. If you just can't get this to work, please contact your computing liaison or me. So remove a setenv LSF_ENVDIR that you may have already in the .cshrc or similar file.

Thank you for your attention and, as always, please submit questions or problems encountered via the CTS system.
