    Dear Collaborator,

Over the last year of so there has been a couple of incidences where, not by intent, but by coincidence jobs have eaten up
the disk space available on the /brahms/u/ user disk directory. To prevent this in the future, but still allow reasonable flexibility
I will propose after consultation with Kris that we institute diskquotas on the user disk. This can be done thanks to the
system (veritas) run by RCF. The suggestion for initial allocation is abpout 2.5 - 3 Gb. This should suffice for almost anyone.
Most brahms users at this point are below 1.5-2 Gb. Should this be too little, we can allocate additional disk space when this years disk purchases are installed and bring it somewhat higher.
The idea is not to restrict what people need to use but to prevent accidental allocation of disk space for data-files that do
not belong in the user areas.

    regards
        Flemming
