Loads of us have actually been running Red Hat 7.2 for a while now
(not at NBI though), so a quick mail would have saved you guys loads
    of time.

Erh, may I remind you of [1]. The exercise wasn't that painless.

While they are at it, updating the CAS and CRS, could they please
    install the following packages:

      autoconf-2.13-14 \ BRAT
      automake-1.4p5-2 /
      compat-egcs-6.2-1.1.2.16 \
compat-egcs-c++-6.2-1.1.2.16 + Better safe than sorry
      compat-egcs-g77-6.2-1.1.2.16 /
      cvs-1.11.1p1-7 - All
      freetype-2.0.3-7 \ ROOT
      freetype-devel-2.0.3-7 /
      libtool-1.4-8 - BRAT
      mysql-3.23.41-1 \ BRAT and ROOT
      mysql-devel-3.23.41-1 /
      Mesa-3.4.2-10 \ ROOT Build
      Mesa-devel-3.4.2-10 /
      tetex-1.0.7-38.2 \
      tetex-dvips-1.0.7-38.2 |
tetex-fonts-1.0.7-38.2 + For BRAT documentation, web
      tetex-latex-1.0.7-38.2 | publishing, etc.
      transfig-3.2.3d-2 /

and perhaps build ROOT RPMs and install those too [2,3]. The GCC-3
packages would also be nice, as they can help us to prepare for a
    migration.

      gcc3-3.0.1-3
      gcc3-c++-3.0.1-3
      gcc3-g77-3.0.1-3

Finally, renaming the CRS nodes, so that the fastest machines has the
lowest number would solve our current CAS inefficiency, and it's
really not that hard to do. Also note, that HOME on CAS points to
    /home/bramreco, and not /brahms/u/bramreco.

    Yours,
