Hello, As most people here know, I have always been interested in using root/brat on win32 which for me is now win2000. I followed a little bit and as I understand there is no fundamental reason that root shouldn't compile with gcc/egcs on cygwin, but the root team has decided to focus their win32 efforts on MSVC++. They mentioned in at least one message on roottalk that if someone is willing to make the port and maintain it, they would put it into the distribution and carry it along. Several things to keep in mind with respect to brat. One is that the root gui stuff is not yet supported on win32. As I understand, it is in the works, but the person doing it has run into (and solved at least many) problems especially having to do with the multi-thread nature of NT. The other problem, which may be, and I hope is, trivial to solve is the fact that we now use autotools. I was assured before we launched into autotools that it was trivial to run it on win32 and I had understood (perhaps wrongly) that it was a part of cygwin. If it is a part of cygwin, I have not yet found it. Another part of this is that the autotools on win32 need to work with MSVC++. I hope that will not be a show stopper. Being too busy with other things and having plenty of linux machines to work on, I have not pursued it. I hope to get to that some time because I would really like to take advantage of the MS Studio debugger which is probably the only debugger in the universe better than the VMS one. (Only people who have used both VMS and MSVC++ can understand this). Kris Konstantin Olchanski wrote: > On Mon, Nov 19, 2001 at 01:39:18PM -0600, Hironori Ito wrote: > > Hello.
