AFS client machines, both remote and local *must* have the CellServDB file modified before that date as explained below. Failing to update CellServDB will result in AFS clients' inability to authenticate and write to AFS. Essentially, the CellServDB update consists of replacing the lines listing the afs servers with these new ones: >rhic #Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider 130.199.80.92 #rafs01.rhic.bnl.gov 130.199.6.52 #rafs02.rcf.bnl.gov 130.199.6.51 #rafs03.rcf.bnl.gov The easiest to way to implement this update is to perform these two steps: 1. Copy the updated CellServDB: cp /afs/rhic/common/etc/CellServDB /usr/vice/etc 2. Update the kernel-resident list of servers: fs newcell -name rhic -servers rafs01.rhic.bnl.gov rafs02.rcf.bnl.gov rafs03.rcf.bnl.gov Computing heads of the five experiments (atlas, brahms, phenix, phobos, and brahms) should forward this message to afs admins at remote collaborations both outside and inside U.S.A. If you have questions regarding this update, please contact me by e-mail at edward@bnl.gov or by phone at 516-344-2072. Edward Nicolescu -- This message forwarded from the RCF announcements page.
