Dear Collaborator, The phone conferences leading up to QM were quite successful in advancing the analysis and communication between BRAHMS collaborators. It was decided at the Sinai collaboration meeting to continue these meeting. I have considered the format of the meeting and will suggest some guidelines to be followed for the upcoming analysis and papers. One set is for the conferences and the other for providing analysis notes to the collaboration. The first analysis meeting/conference will be on Thursday August 25w 9.30-11.EST. The proposal is to have two main discussions point i) pp and auau analysis at Krakwow (Pawel, Radek). The update status of analysis , and go into details in regards to methods, cuts etc. ii) Flow analysis. Status and issue , also in perspective of comments at QM (Hiro, Erik) The call-in number is x 8261 (I will have to cross check since the ITD calendar is not visible from outside the firewall) The agenda page at CERN/BRAHNS will be setup for this meeting (Monday) so presentations can be uoploaded. This should be at latest wiwn the evening before the meeting so all have a chance to go thorugh the material and formulate and circulate questions before the actual conference. Flemming i)The main purpose is to communicate progress and issues to other people involved in BRAHMS analysis and promote the path towards publications of many sub-projects. ii) The meetings will be held every 2 weeks on Thursday at 9:30-11.00 am EST. A 12 line bridge line have been reserved until New Year. iii) In order to allow for sufficient discussion time the following format is proposed a) 2-3 main items/analysis will be the focus of each meeting. To make the meeting useful material wshould be posted the previous evening allowing time for e-mail questions and comments. b) Other people involved in analysis will give a max 5 minute report on progress and expected plans for the coming 2 weeks, iv) It is very important that analysis and physics result are properly documented. It was a long time ago , but has not really been followed up that all physics result are properly documented in an analysis note. The main points of the analysis notes are a) Document the actual analysis with sufficient notes so someone else can actually repeat the analysis and produce the physics results. This implies a. Document code, scripts used b. Document cuts and parameters used. c. If non-standard software is used, a detailed description of e.g PID methods, acceptance is needed b) Quality of runs used. a. Run sets. b. Centrality checks c. Criteria for good runs, and for rejecting runs. c) Physics results and plots. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Brookhaven National Laboratory e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov phone: 631-344-4106 _______________________________________________ Brahms-l mailing list Brahms-l@lists.bnl.gov http://lists.bnl.gov/mailman/listinfo/brahms-lReceived on Sat Aug 20 14:47:38 2005
