I will like to give you a status report on the Run-6 RHIC run.

The new ALD has determined that
"The next PAC meeting will be held at Brookhaven Thursday-Saturday, 3-5 November 2005. Proposals are due in the HENP office by 30 September 2005."
There are information that the next years RHIC run may be in the order of 20 weeks, though this is of course not settled with no budget approved from Congressm yet.
Today there was a RHIC RIKEN spin group meeting and from this it emerged that the SPIN groups in STAR and PHENIX each would request a long spin run in order of >=20 weeks with 2/3 longitudinal polarized and 1/3 transversely polarized. The PHENIX presenter commented that P. may request a short 62 GeV run, while other HI requests may not emerge until after the PHENIX week in 2 weeks from now.
It is my understanding that STAR will NOT request a 62 GeV run (from C-A D Monday meetings).
At our meeting in Romania and at Budapest thare was a consencus we should request a (short) 62 GeV run to get appropriate reference for our 62 GeV data in particular at larger rapidities where little is known from ISR. The process to prepare for such request has to start and briefs (shorter written documents ) will have to be asemebled so we can prepare such request. What is the physics justification? What is the required luminosity ? What resources are needed?
I request that each of you interested in this actually invest some time in the process and come with answers to these questions such a document can be prepared in time.

best regards
    Flemming
