The accelerator was setup this afternoon, and the BRAHMS trigger system has been retuned for this running (timing changes from the RHIC clock). The lifetime (t.1/2) of the beam is rather short ~ 1/2 hours, with a very large background right after collisions are established and before collimators are inserted. Some info for running the exp/shifters: i) Keep HV on chambers on during injection and dump ii) check that HV is on right after new injection iii) start runs when H1,H2 backgrounds gets low (~ 1kHz), most likely ~5-8 minutes after injection. iv) It seems store length will be >1 hours maybe two. This is in my opinion too long Intensity is down to 1/10 initial and refills only take 10 minutes, so probably MCR want to inject and play with protons- just look at the broadcast page. -- please split runs into ~ 1/2 hour runs with adjusted tr 1,4,5 (hopefully 2,3 and 6 can stay at one) v) it is improtant to be alert, so you will be pretty busy. Good luck. cheers Flemming ---------------------------------------------------------------- Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Brookhaven National Laboratory e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov phone: 631-344-4106 _______________________________________________ Brahms-l mailing list Brahms-l@lists.bnl.gov http://lists.bnl.gov/mailman/listinfo/brahms-lReceived on Tue Mar 22 18:52:18 2005
