Dear Collaborator, let me give you an update on the schedule for this years RHIC run. Albeit the PAC meeting to deal with the BUP is not until September 8 it has already been decided that the heavy ion part of the run will be Cu-Cu. The CA-D needed the information and 3/4 experiments had requested ions around mass 60. It is almost certain it will also be followed by a substantial pp physics run. Base on the rerading of the BUP's the likely scenarios will be i) CuCu at 200 GeV 10/11 weeks. - If the run goes well an achieves the requeste luminositie the last `1-2 weeks could be at 62.4 Gev. ii) pp at 200 GeV 11/10 weeks - phenix has also request ~ 1 week at 62.4 GeV pp, with caveat of sufficient lum until then. (For this pp run our request is for ~4-6 weeks of running, not all 10). The scenario above assume the pres. budget with 31 cryo- weeks. The RHIC schedule is thus rather firm. October 1 cryo-cool down 2 weeks October 14 beam setup with IR closed up. ~october 28 rampup and initial exp. setup (owl shifts) ~ November 13(15) Physics Running start with CuCu +10/11 weeks that is November 15 - 1 February ~ Feb 1. switch over to pp (2+1) week ~ Feb 21 start of pp physics running. I thus urge all groups to plan according to this schedule regards Flemming ---------------------------------------------------------------- Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Brookhaven National Laboratory e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov phone: 631-344-4106 _______________________________________________ Brahms-l mailing list Brahms-l@lists.bnl.gov http://lists.bnl.gov/mailman/listinfo/brahms-lReceived on Sun Aug 22 10:28:44 2004
