Dear Brahmin, here is a draft abstract for the DNP meeting. Two supporting plots are attached. Any comments would be very welcome. Michael Limiting Fragmentation and Landau Hydrodynamics for Pions and Kaons? Michael Murray Recently it has been observed that pion rapidity distributions are consistent with Landau hydro-dynamics as formulated by Corruthers [Corruthers,BrMeson]. This theory is also consistent with limiting fragmenation which we have observed in our charged meson distribution [BrMult200,BrMultdAu] BRAHMS has measured charge kaon and pion yields over a very wide range of rapidity. We compare our recent data to results from AGS, and SPS experiments [NA49,NA44,E866,E910]. We find that Landau hydrodynamics does not work so well for kaons as for pions, suggesting that other features may be involved in kaon production, particularly at lower energy. We test the hypothesis of limiting fragmentation by boosting our data to the rest frame of one nucleus. We find that the data are reasonably consistent with limiting fragmentation for both kaons and pions. _______________________________________________ Brahms-l mailing list Brahms-l@lists.bnl.gov http://lists.bnl.gov/mailman/listinfo/brahms-l
