Dear Collaborator, As you should have seen CA-D managed within 24 hours to get into running conditions at 63 GeV, with about the expected luminosities. The rates (interaction) are as good one could hope for (~400 ZDc/sec) while the background are a bit up ~ 2.4-3 times that for 200 GeV relative to ZDC rates. The physics program started this afternoon, though it has problem right now- no data this ~ 18:00. I have placed the slides presented at the BNL/BRAHMS local meeting today. It is here argued that little is gained by going to 2.3 deg compared to 3 for the proton yields(at the mean pt). The ongoing plan is to run sufficient stat. on the 3 deg setting to get protons (and an estimate of p-bar) at 3 deg (y~3.2) before staring another rapidity `2.2. With Zdc rates of ~ 300 this looks like a feasible program.I encourage you to consider the fact gathered on the todays status-report as well as comments on this. http://www.sdcc.bnl.gov/brahms/private/planning_meeting.html regards Flemming ---------------------------------------------------------------- Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Brookhaven National Laboratory e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov phone: 631-344-4106 _______________________________________________ Brahms-l mailing list Brahms-l@lists.bnl.gov http://lists.bnl.gov/mailman/listinfo/brahms-lReceived on Thu Mar 25 21:47:48 2004
