Dear collaborators, A few simple-minded Oslo thoughts on the beam priorities (once our full-energy Au-Au ambitions are satisfied): There seems to be consensus that high-pt measurements should be our main focus, although longitudinal dynamics also still has high priority. If it is possible to get a lower-energy Au-Au run as part of run IV (where another species seems to be out of the question for operational reasons?) it would be extremely interesting to do a rapidity scan covering more of the fragmentation region, as Jens Jørgen points out. (A special bonus for Norway is that this would make a beautiful addition to Bjørn's thesis on particle production and stopping.) At the same time we could complement the larger experiments' studies of high-pt suppression at midrapidity. If we have to wait until run V (where both species are operationally feasible) I tend to agree with Flemming that the lighter species at full energy would serve the BRAHMS high-pt program better. Here we could really make BRAHMS-unique contributions, measuring high-pt spectra of good quality at higher rapidities. Best wishes, Trine
