Dear Collaborator, As more or less expected today's meeting and decision on continue dA running was really a fait a complit; Tom kirk had promised DOE that the pp run would start on Monday thus making the considerations for additional running running a formal case. If RHIC gets it running back on a good path we can accomplish most of the dA program but not all. The dAu will end on Sunday March 23 around 8 pm (evening). The setup for pp running will start Monday with the first 2 weeks dedicated to Machine setup, followe by ~ 3 weeks of commisioning (exp at night) and 3 weeks of running ending on or about May 15. Based on this schedule we must plan on manning the experiment from about April 10 partial and later April fully. It should of course be mentioned that the present US actions in Iraq and effect thereof can influence the present run in a negative way as you may have seen; on access to US and BNL ,operations of the machine and experiments through change of security status of the Laboratory. I hope for the best, but want you to be aware of the present uncertainty. best regards Flemming -- Flemming Videbaek Brookhaven National Laboratory Physics Department tlf 631-344-4106 fax 631-344-1334 e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov
