Hello. I started BRAHMS E-log program. It is still under development. But, since the data run has started (sort of), E-log has been started for its benefits (you can check the elog without going to the BRAHMS counting house and without decoding people's hand-written hieroglyphics and/or something.) The program is modified (with added functions) codes from fermi lab. All codes are based on perl (with html and java script). At this moment, the basic features (see below) are working but the others are not functioning. Therefore, don't try to push every buttons you see (particulary if you are not the shift person.) If any of functions are not working, don't get upset but just ignore them. =) ( and report to our list server) Here is list of working functions and not working (but soon to be implemented) functions. Working. 1. Start Shift You click this when you start your shift. (Make sure you start your shift at your time (not even one second before) 0-8 (night), 8-16(day) and 16-24(eve) 2. Make Entry You click this to make a entry to a log. you can type text or html if you know. This means you can change a font and color for better organization for your comments. 3. Prev View a previous shift log 4. Next View a next shift log 5. Current View a current log 6. Add Graph Add figures (in jpeg and gif formats only!!!!) in a log with comments. "A picture is worth a thousand words!!!!!" We also have a scanner in our counting house to put any polaroid pictures to log. (Well, I have set it up yet. maybe tomorrow) 7. Start Run You click this AFTER (not before) you started a run. Fill run information in a log. Watch out what you fill in your magnet settings in your daq. This program checks your values with readout values and if they are different, it will bark at you!!! (ok, it does not bark yet, but it would be highlited by RED color.) 8. End Run You click this AFTER you stopped a run. Check a trigger counts in a log. Not working. (important) 1. End Shift Will summarize run statistics for your shift. 2. Search Necessary to find a item quickly from a log. 3. Spell check Well, it would be helpful. 4. Check Run Fill in a form to check the conditions of the current run. Ok, after reading the above comments, you can now view (or use if you are qualified) a BRAHMS E-log at http://pii3.brahms.bnl.gov/cgi-bin/elog.pl If you have more idea, let me know (it may be added.)
