    Good Morning!

When I said I would keep you posted I had more progress reports in mind
than this. Around 7:00 am this morning a 480 V transformer in 1000P
bailed out :(, taking down all power in this building and preventing us
from using AtR. The Site Supervisor has been called and a line crew is
coming in. As you can imagine this can take a little longer on
christmas day .... (my shift virtually just cancelled itself ;)).

Last night we had some succesful 53x53 ramps in RHIC :) but earlier this
morning ran into problems with the permit being pulled by the loss
monitors during the ramp (i.e. too many losses above our threshold
triggering a beam dump). That's why just before the transformer failure
we ramped 6x6 in RHIC to storage energy. This beam is still in the
machine (ramped to flattop) and is currently being used by PHENIX for
timing purposes. We'll keep it as long as possible.

As usual, I'll keep you posted. Have nice christmas day in any case!

    (wed afternoon)

    Hi,

a real quick one for all those who are 'watching': the AtR power
supply/transformer problem seems fixed and we are back in business :). We
just injected Au beam and did a succesful mode switching to Blue. We'll
continue our work with both beams. Enjoy christmas afternoon,
