Dear Collaborator, As of today both STAR and PHENIX has yet to turn in there proposal, but due to a meeting at DOE last Friday they had gotten another ~two days for completion. Never the less I learned today the basic content of the proposals from Bill Zajc and Tim Halman; based on this I belive it is a fait-a-compli what the running will be during run-3 regardless of the PAC meeting in two weeks. The request from both STAR and Phenix is d-Au followed by pp. The Phobos request is d-Au , followed by Cu-Cu at 200 and Au-Au at 56 Gev. I will certainly argue for the Au running at the PAC, but we better prepare for the obvious. The pp running is, as Kirk also said, contingent on a good polarization >= 40% achieved in AGS during the first part of the run, so there could be surprises down the road, as well as some frustrating startup period. best regards Flemming ------------------------------------------------------ Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Brookhaven National Laboratory tlf: 631-344-4106 fax 631-344-1334 e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov
