FYI. at tomorrows access we are planning to complete the installation of the MRS back trigger slats and a needed checkout of the fron trigger slat. ------------------------------------------------------ Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Brookhaven National Laboratory tlf: 631-344-4106 fax 631-344-1334 e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov ----- Original Message ----- From: Angelika Drees Sent: Wednesday, December 19, 2001 4:39 PM Subject: update Hi, in RHIC we have our last day of dedicated commissioning where we did tests with experimental magnets, worked on orbits and RF. Later tonight we'll continue working on ramps. If you need an access around midnight, please contact MCR in time - for the time being I don't have anybody on my list so we might not open up. Tomorrow morning we have restricted access in the IRs from 8:00-13:00. Sweeps are done from 13:00 on and should be done by 15:00 when we resume operation with beam. PHENIX should be swept last. We'll reconvene with PHENIX after the access and come up with a plan for further access needs for the next few days. Please check the scheduling physicist webpage (http://www.cadops.bnl.gov/AP/RHIC2001/SchedPhys/) for possible scenarios. In the AGS we keep working on polarization improvements and horizontal emittance. Currently we can maintain 30% (the goal is 50%) at extraction energy which could be confirmed in RHIC at injection in both rings. We'll continue with this efforts behind RHIC stores during the production stores. For the time being the polarization in RHIC at flattop might be still much below 30 %. We'll measure polarization for every store at injection and storage. These measurements will be online available to experiments. Next week we won't have a time meeting (I know, you were looking forward to a special christmas day time meeting ;) ). I'll keep you posted via webpage and emails instead.
