RHIC and BNL status

    Due to this morning terrorist attacks in NY and elsewhere, the laboratory has issued a security alert and
    changed procedures at the lab.
    In addition the CA-D has shut down operattion for the next 24 hours. Shift are cancelled
    until tomorrow morning. 
    
    
    Please read the following two notice from BNL

     a)
    
    BNL SECURITY ALERT
    
    Because of this morning's apparent domestic terrorist attacks, BNL 
    has increased security measures to include 100 percent identification 
    checks at the gate entrances. This may result in delays for site 
    ingress. Additionally, the north gate will be closed to lunch traffic.
    
    It is requested that employees remain vigilant and report any 
    suspicious activity, vehicles, packages, etc. immediately to BNL 
    Police, Ext. 2238 or 911.
    
    These measures will remain in effect until further notice.
    
    b)
    
    ADDITIONAL BNL SECURITY MEASURES
    
    In addition to the measures outlined in the previous e-mail, all BNL 
    employees, guests and contractors will be required to conspicuously 
    wear their ID badges while on site.
