Yes Steve is our leader. I think he will also tell you that OSX.2 gets 
lots of Open Source software from Fink:

Steve and myself have X11 with Gnome as window managers. Binaries of 
ROOT can be obtained from Keisuke Fujii:

http://www-jlc.kek.jp/~fujiik/macosx/10.2.X/

I have not built BRAT yet, but Steve has done it.
