Just a short comment on behaviour, since the first mail was send in the
middle of upgrading with the
many (good) changes of Brat. The removing of root.m4 and xpm.m4 worked in
the initial step but in fact
NOT during the final install. Since this e-mail is from home I cannot
document.
Following up,  isn;t the right 'short' term solution to remove from
/opt/brahms/... since this worked before ?!
