Hi Konstantin,
I don't know what's up with the mailing system, or if it is a bug at
my or your end. You see, I've had a similar problem with some letters
from Flemming.
Anyway, thanks for your thorough answer, it was very enlightning -
also, I had a good laugh on your coments on SuperHyperLinux 2010 with
GCC-9.99.
I do share your concern on how much support Objectivity really does
offer. I've tried a couple of times to reach Shigeki Misawa of RCF,
specifically concerning libstdc++ version 2.9 (equivilant in the
RedHat/Linux sense to version 6.0) and Objectivity/SQL++ for
Linux. However, either he hasn't got my mails, or he doens't feel like
answering them? I guess you remember the trouble I had this summer
because of the (undocumented) dependency on libstdc++ Version 2.8.
Now, on using another ODBM (Object DataBase Manager) framework. I've
just browsed through quite a number of web-pages, and it seems to me,
that there really aren't that many ODBM's around (which is bad I
think, because it means that there is little emphasis on ODBM's, which
in turn means there is sparse development in that field). Also, it
doesn't seem like LHC++ at CERN is going to use another ODBM (then
Objectivity that is), or if they do intend so, there not telling the
web about it!
Anyway, I'm am going to look into a RunDB, though I may not develop it
fully, you know - time! Ofcourse, the class I sketched was just that -
a sketch. On Slow Controls: these should have their own DB. The
geomtry data could also have thier own data base!
Thanks once again
Christian
