TOF PID for PR01
Road to PID in PR03
The PID limit achieved in PR01 is 2.25 GeV/c for protons.
The resolution in PR03 is dominated by the T0 correlations (which limits the accuracy with which the collision time can be determined).
Switching from using individual T0s to determine the collision time to using the ORs is non-trivial (e.g. all our automatic monitoring monitors individual T0/TOF channels, not trigger bits).

Road to PID in PR03
Modifications to DV are in progress, which will allow us to monitor the T0 OR stability at an increased resolution.
Implementation of the collision time based on the T0 OR is the first priority.
Improving the T0 OR resolution, by using the measured hit distribution and/or using the T0 OR information recorded with the VME TDC, is second priority.
Trying to implement a multi-dimensional calibration matrix is last on the priority list.

Tasks:
TOF DST production: Erik
T0 collision time based on OR: Frank
T0 collision time optimization: Nazim
TOF tracking/ntuple production: Erik
Modifications to DV: Frank
Issues to be addressed:
Understanding difference between TOF residual from Rochester analysis and other analyses (important implications for Au+Au).
Replace T0 cables in order to eliminate cross talk.
Study of pedestal noise in the trigger/TOF/T0 counters.

Final remark
At the end of the pp run, the T0 counters will need to be removed to allow the installation of the beam-pipe protection system.
Nazim and Erik signed up for shifts at the end of the p+p run and will remove the T0 counters as soon as there is access at the end of the p+p run.
We propose to reinstall the T0 counters behind ring 3 on both P and N sides (which is their appropriate location for the Au+Au run).
