Monitoring Checklist Instructions
Checking the portal
The portal
does automatic checks to see if monitoring is progressing, the first thing is to see that
monitoring is running on all working systems, look under "Detector
Status"
Currently all except Si hybrid should not say old. If any other
does, check with Carla (for UPS, Si Power Supplies, Si Cooling System), Patrick
(Temperatur and Humidity, Magnet), Edmundo (TOF and Trigger Voltages) to see if expert is
working on system which implies no recording to the database. Also, check that
Magnet Monitor and BLM Monitor did not crash, and if they did, just restart both.
If there is any problem call Nigel/Robert, pager 4424.
Note on Si Hybrid monitoring: If Si Power
Supplies to the Oct/Vtx and PSpec are ON(1), DAQ should be updating the
information on the Si hybrid monitoring web page. (Bug Andrei/Pradeep if the Si Power
supplies to these 2 crates are ON, but the Si hybrid monitoring page says 'Old'). A
template for Nominally correct values of the monitored parameters is:

Items marked in Red indicate a severe ALARM, Si expert
should be called immediately. Ibc > 200mA indicates
problem with the module, Temp > 45C indicates malfunction
in the cooling of that particular module

Checking Trigger Counters HV
(including Cosmic Trigger)
- Go to the LabView HV control program running at "Plastic & Camac Control".
Look at the STATUS section of the vi panel (upper right hand). All the channels in column
>9 in this panel should be either black (disabled) or green (enabled working properly).
If this is not the case, call Edmundo office: 3983, home 516 671 1213, cell. 516 678 0948.
- If alarm sounding and on window and there is a big flashing button "WARNING: HV
channel has tripped, press to accknowlege". Press button then call Edmundo office:
3983, home 516 671 1213, cell. 516 678 0948 if red in column >9.
- If LabView or the HV program is not running on "Plastic & Camac Control",
click in the icon : "HV slow control manual", follow the instructions to start
up the HV control, note that the template file to start the vi should be : e:/Slow Controls/template files/HVcontrol/HV_latest.txt.
Checking Zero Degree Calorimeters.
- Go to the"RHIC Interface X-Term" look for an open "HV" window. If
you don's see one, look for the high voltage icon, "HV" in the gray
"icons" window on the right. Double click on it to open the window. If you don't
see either, click the right mouse button on a black area of the screen and choose
"ZCAL HV(pet)". option from the menu that appears.
- Check that the nom. state(on/off) and the status buttons match. Check also that
the nominal, measured, and VADC columns match within 10 volts. If this is not the case,
call Edmundo, office: 3983, home 516 671 1213, cell. 516 678 0948.
Checking TOF
- Go to the LabView HV control program running at "Plastic & Camac Control".
Look at the STATUS section of the vi panel (upper right hand). All the channels in column
<= 10 in this panel should be either black (disabled) or green (enabled working
properly). If this is not the case, call Erik pager: 7604, home 1036, cell. ---.
- If alarm sounding and on window and there is a big flashing button "WARNING: HV
channel has tripped, press to accknowlege". Press button then call Erik pager: 7604,
home 1036, cell. --- if red in column <=10.
- If LabView or the HV program is not running on "Plastic & Camac Control",
click in the icon : "HV slow control manual", follow the instructions to start
up the HV control, note that the template file to start the vi should be : e:/Slow Controls/template files/HVcontrol/HV_latest.txt.
Checking Temperature in Tunnel
- Goto temperature
and humidity in tunnel graph and check temperature ~20-22 degrees, and humidity <60
% and no rapid variations.If so, ensure ODH fans off, and/or call main control (x4662) and
ask what is going on.
Checking Dry Air System (including temperature and humidity in enclosure)
- Goto Silicon Slow Monitoring computer
- If on main page ("Si Monitor Version 2.5"), click on "Details"
button of Cooling and Dry Air System.

- The page will look like

- Check the temperature and humidty in the Main Enclosure
H at Main Enclosure <15%
T at Main Enclosure <21degrees
- Check the Dry Air system pressures
Dryer Inlet ~0.55 MPa
Distributor Inlet ~0.30 MPa
Checking all ok in Tunnel
- Go into tunnel, look for anything unusual, and take appropriate action
Writing in logbook check performed
Write in logbook that you performed check, with any appropriate comments
If one or more of these conditions is incorrect, get hold of Nigel/robert pager 4424,
or call at home or work office. If requires imediate action, turn off the dry air system
see instructions XXXX?
