Procedure for turning on the HV on PLASMON
NOTE : The voltages are already stored in the vi, so to switch on the HV for the plastic is very, very simple:
1. a) In the CONTROLS panel click on "Read Template" - this will bring up a dialog box from which to choose the file you wish to open.
b) Make sure you are in the following directory : E:/Slow Controls/template files/HVcontrol and choose the file "11/26/2001". For file with cherenkov's turned off (as during pp run) go to directory: E:/SlowControls/ccPrint/PaddleVoltages and choose the file "2002_01_10_pp."
c) The "Read Template" button will then read "Sending to Mainframe" and it will take at least 15 mins for the settings to be read. During these 15 mins you will see the following:
i) "Retrieving Data from Mainframe" will appear at the top center of the HV CONTROL vi screen .
ii) The black squares in the "STATUS" grid will change to green, but the HV will still be off.
iii) Wait until "Retrieving Data from Mainframe" disappears from the top center of the screen permanently.
2. Once the values have been loaded and the "Read Template" sign returns click the "HV ON" button on the CONTROLS panel in the middle of the screen and wait at least 10 mins. During these 10 mins you will see the following:
a) The white square in the CONTROLS panel labeled "OFF" will turn yellow and read "ON"
b) "Retrieving Data from Mainframe" will appear at the top center of the HV CONTROL vi screen .
c) Once the voltages have all been ramped up the squares in the STATUS grid will continue to be green.
d) Update the Nominal Detector State of the TOF HV and Trigger HV to ON.
d) Compare the Nominal Detector State (after you have updated it to ON) with the actual state. If they agree you are done! ( No need to do anything else!)
