The Overloaded Mouse
As mentioned in the introduction the next
project should be to overload the ExecuteEvent function of TNode (which
handles interrupts from mouse motion and clicks) in an inherited class
TPhNode, to experiment with options for PHOBOS-useful information about
clicked-on detectors. The options will include a call to an appropriate
user-written macro with the detector name passed as an argument; this macro
could bring up information internal to the ROOT data analysis and/or external
web information. There is a very useful discussion of such overloading
in ROOTTALK in a reply from V. Fine to Reiner Rohlfs on August 20.

Lists of Nodes
Of course all this will have to be integrated with PHAT.
The macro phcset.C is a primitive example of the kind of node
name selection that could be used to build the subdetector, layer,
plane and sensor organization of PHAT. Perhaps this might best be
done with external lists of names rather than attempting to decode the
usually but not always consistent naming scheme. Somewhere in the
PHAT class structure I want to see the PHOBOS object access by mouse overloading
mentioned above.

More Buttoning
Experiments with the examples of "presenters" appearing frequently
in ROOTTALK are worthwhile. These will, I hope, lead to further extensions
of this "toy model" to include examples of plot access.

TWebFile
In Ideas there is a discussion
of integration of ROOT and the web. Experiments with this new class
(requiring use of an APACHE web server) will be interesting.
Please comment on these current interests. Am I wasting my time?
Are there more worthwhile projects, or suggestions for different directions?
