Ok. I heard more about what RCF is thinking to do after this run. They
are thinking to use Fermi Linux, which is a build-from-source RedHat.
For update, DOE got a deal with RedHat at $25 per machine. Now, the
question is what to do with other machines (home or pii etc..). For
pii, it might be better off with the Fermi Linux. For other
institution, I don't know what you should do. If you want to use Fermi
Linux, it is free. But, the security update may not be available in
convenient form. You could buy (!!!) the educationally discounted
Redhat with all free security updates. Or, you could go with Fedora if
you want to have something close (but not exactly the same) to what RCF
have with free $$$ and update. Or you can use whatever else out there
(Debian, MacOSX (or M$win with cygwin if you prefere)).
