    Hi all,

I've updated BRAT on AFS in the "new" tree.

         Version: 2.1.26
         CVS Tag: BRAT-2-1-26

This update was done due to the rather important changes by Flemming
    to the tracking code.

I'd like to stress the importance of bumping the revision number and
tagging the CVS repository when such important modifications is done.
The BRAT installation on AFS will _not_ be updated _unless_ the CVS
repository is properly tagged. It is therefor paramount, that
important changes are followed up by a revsion bump and CVS tag.

If we allowed updates to the AFS installation, that does not
correspond to well-defined revisions of BRAT, chaos will quickly
insue, since it is impossible to tell which release of BRAT one is
using. Imagine that the version is <M>.<m>.<r> on AFS, is updated to
head of CVS which is _not_ tagged, then effectively, you have not
release <M>.<m>.<r> by <M>.<m>.<r>-a, and this will not be visible to
the user. Hence, if some files a bug report on the AFS installation,
the developers will wrongfully assume that the user is taking about
release <M>.<m>.<r>, while the user, unbeknownst to her and the
developer, are actually using <M>.<m>.<r>-a. Chaos! The importance
of maintaining discipline and openness can not be stressed enough.

Further, I'd like to point out, that 3 people can update BRAT on AFS:

    	 Flemming Videbaek <videbaek@bnl.gov>
    	 Kris Hagel <hagel@comp.tamu.edu>
    	 Christian Holm <cholm@nbi.dk>

To not completly overburden one or two individuals, I'd like to ask
people to approach the person closest (geographically) to themselves.
Failing that, send a request to the three people mentioned above.

A pledge for Kris: Currently, mails are sent to
brahmlib@rcf.rhic.bnl.gov everytime someone commits stuff to BRAT,
from those nodes where it actually work - however, maybe we should
stop that, and then forward mails from brahmlib to you, Flemming and
myself, so that people can use brahmlib@rcf.rhic.bnl.gov as contact
point for Request For AFS Updates (RFAU) and similar stuff.

Here follows an excerpt from the Changelog:
