As we were warned yesterday there might be a realy problem with the data02 disks. I gave Maurice the go ahead to rebuild - afterall you had been warned, and secondly no datasets on the data01 are supposed to backed-up. He also advised me that at some time this would be replaced with a newer setb.o f disks replacing the 300 Gb sorry for the bad news ------------------------------------------------------ Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Brookhaven National Laboratory tlf: 631-344-4106 fax 631-344-1334 e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov ----- Original Message ----- From: "RCF/USAtlas Staff" <rcfstaff@bnl.gov> To: <rhic-rcf-l@bnl.gov>; <usatlas-users-l@lists.bnl.gov> Sent: Wednesday, July 25, 2001 6:34 PM Subject: what's going on - with the mti disks > a last chance attempt was made to get brahms/data02 > back, but was unsuccessful. we're trying to rebuild > the raidset with new disks now, so atleast the storage > will be available again. but we're only now finding out > the limitations of this old hardware, that to recreate > a raidset, you have to drop all raidsets on the controller. > this would delete atlas data also. so we're giving > mti a few minutes to figure a way out of this. if they > cant we'll have to come up without data02 and find > other storage for brahms later. > maurice > > -- > This message forwarded from the RCF announcements page. > Recent messages are available at: > http://www.rhic.bnl.gov/RCF/Announcements/announce.html >
