    Hello,
I wanted to let you know that I have installed ROOT and BRAT on
afs/rhic/opt/brahms. This means that we can now use the same copy of
ROOT and BRAT on both the PII's as well as the RCF machines (as well as
those elsewhere with the same @sys if things are setup correctly) The
current version of brat is VER-1-6-1 and root 2.24.04 It does not have
any of the changes indicated today (24-May-2000)

I have not moved any pointers yet as this should be tested by people
other than me. If you would like to test it, put the following
    statments into your .login file

    setenv BRAHMS_ARCH linux
    setenv ROOTSYS /afs/rhic/opt/brahms/root/root_v2.24.04
    setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH $ROOTSYS/lib
    set path = ($ROOTSYS/bin $path)

    setenv BRATSYS /afs/rhic/opt/brahms/brat/pro
    setenv BRATHOME $BRATSYS
    setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH $BRATSYS/lib/$BRAHMS_ARCH\:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH

Check it out and make sure protections are correct so that people other
than me can run it. Also, see what you think about performance. That
is, starting root and brat this way implies starting over the network.
On the other hand, afs does a good job of caching, so that should be
somewhat of a one time shot and the other times should show better
performance. I could not say that I noticed too much difference.

    I will listen for comments.

    Kris

    P. S. In case you are curious, I installed it on
