Objectivity Database - Revisited

Hello all of you,

Funny how a simple greating can lead to such an email flux. Well, I
didn't intend to sound Texan, but in hindsight, it was a nice joke,
since there obviously is many (at least three) Texans on this list.

In the future, I should properly stick to proper ENGLISH gramma,
so no-one thinks I'm from around those parts where they kill teenagers
with chain-saws (I had nothing to do with that unfortunate incident 20
yeears ago, and anyone saying differently better watch their back, or
else ... (the distant murmor of a two-beat gasline engine starting)).

Now for something a bit more seriuos.

When I wrote the last mail, I completely forgot about the AFS policy
at RCF. The point is, that not all has access to "/afs/rhic/oodb" -
you need to have a special key. However, Objectivity is installed on
the "pii<X>.brahms.bnl.gov" machines, in the directory
"/home/brahmlib/oodb/v_5.1.2/i386_linux22/". You should set the
environment variable "OBJYHOME" to this directory, if you don't have
access to the AFS directory. Also, for reasons mentioned in the
documentation, you should place your database in a directory (or one
of its parents) which gets NFS exported (look in "/etc/exports"). That
means, if you place your database in a subdirectory of "$HOME", you
can only do Obhectivity development (incl. compilation) on
"pii3.brahms.bnl.gov", since this is where the "/home" disk is
hard-wired.
