Dear collaborators,
The Mock Data Challenge at RHIC Computing Facility started Tuesday
September 8. During these first days we are sinking "raw data" (GBRAHMS
output generated by Flemming) into the RCF High Performance Storage System.
We have 29 files, total size 14.4GB, that have been transferred 6 times
(so far) at an average rate of 1MB/s. We have had no problems with the
system. (Others have had more trouble. STAR managed to sink 1200 files
into the PHENIX class of service).
Later today, or tomorrow, when the RCF people have finished measuring
the performance of the HPSS when all 4 experiments are sinking data, we
will start the data reconstruction phase of MDC. The BRAHMS reconstruction
program works on a small data sample (100 events), but there is a memory
leak somewhere that has to be fixed before we can process full runs.
Regards,
Alv Kjetil Holme
