Subject: GBRAHMS release
From: F.Videbaek
To: Brahms software list server
The new release of GBRAHMS has been made. It has essentially been
available for a couple of weeks, and seems stable both for the tests
as well as for the production simulations made to look at beam pipe
properties.
I will encourage you to switch over to this version since the default
geometry should be very close to the final for most detectors.
Also do report back to me if you encounter problems with this new
version.
Some notes on the release, also available on the BRAHMS GBRAHMS web page
http://rsgi01.rhic.bnl.gov/export1/brahms/WWW/private/computing/gbrahms/gbrahms.html
// Some notes on this version
o) Since the geometry has been changed including the geant tree
structure it is utterly important to use updated version of g_anantp.f
and gbr2c.f files.
The old comis routines will not work.
o) The spectrometer arm now have virtual volume associated with each
of the moveable parts. i.e.
MIDS MRS
FMS1 front part of FS
FMS2 back part of FS
FD2 D2& detector part of front part
o) The TPC are implemented with pad-rows as sub elements. In the default
setup each TPC is one active volume. If you want to access the padrow
turn the detail flag on
set_tree t1 af
set_tree t2 af
The calibration drift chambers wm1, wm2, wf1, wf2 (i.e. the old E866
FT1,...) are added to the list of detectors. The are not included by
default. To turn them on e.g. in the MRS execute in the setup files.
set_tree wm1 ao
set_tree wm2 ao
o) The documentation was split into one describing the code
organization,
and one giving examples. (geant_setup.html and code_organization.html)
Please do note that it is still fairly incomplete and could need a
helping hand (i.e. corrections, additional sections) from some-one who
has been through the hazzles of getting GBRAHMS to run for their
simulations.
o) The beam pipe geometry is not final, but for central part should be
in a few weeks.
