re: Major update of GBRAHMS
I have been planning for some time to make a major revision of GBRAHMS.
The main reasons for this are:
- Several detectors have now been finalized and in construction. (e.g. TCPCs). There is a need to describe these in detail and simulate the response better. e.g. TPCS will have active volume above actual padrows and not beeing a virtual box.
- The geometry i particular of the forward spectrometer will be defined relative to a set of coordinate systems which are related to the actual platforms rather than relative to other detectors.
- The common output format (stream files) will be build into GBRAHMS rather than generating them from COMIS routines.
- Magnet maps should be an option; inclusions of this needs more discussion based on needs and ease of implementation.
Most of these changes will imply that existing scripts, kumac and comis files will have to be modified. I therefor consider this a major upgrade. The present version is archieved in /afs/rhic/brahms/BRAHMS_LIB/geant/VER_DEV which will only be updated if serious errors are found/reported.
If yout would like to have a better detector descriptions available, or have made one (TOF, MULT etc..) let me know. The time schedule for this work is to have a new working version by middle of November so let me know before then.
regards Flemming
