Minutes of BRAHMS Analysis meeting Friday 05 February 2010 ========================================================== Present: Flemming, JH, Ramiro, Kris, Michael, Steve and Casper. Agenda and slides ================= http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=84020 09:30 PID plot from AuAu F.Videbaek (BNL) 09:35 dp draft Feb 04 Michael and Casper Since Steve was delayed by the snow we started with the dp draft. dp draft: Michael and Casper ============================ We started with a discussion of Flemmings PID plot. We will try it using color intensity plots. Michael has added references to coalesence at lower energy data and RHIC and made a slight redo of the abstract and conclusions. Todo >> BNL group will go over text carefully next week. Todo >> Michael Reference ART paper on direct production of deuterons and also mention that the change in the behavior of B2 starts already at AGS energies. Todo >> Casper redo all plots in PID format. PID plot from AuAu: Flemming ============================ Flemming showed PID plots from the forward spectrometer for AuAu. He has concerns about the Pt limits that Selemon reaches. Todo: Steve will set up a doodle poll for a discussion with Selemon about the PID cuts in CuCu. We would then decide where to put the cutoff for Pt. Flemming has one concern about the CuCu proton spectra. Since he did not analyize the data in veto mode he has a lower Pt cut of 1GeV, compared to 0.5GeV in AuAu. Flemming finds that the mean <pt> for auau ~ 780 GeV/c 33-43% smaller than CuCu central! Todo>> Flemming thinks he may be able to help produce new proton spectra with veto analysis. Todo>> Selemon Steve send lists of runs, Selemon will then need to redo blast wave fits. JH asked if we use the weighted center of the bin in our fits. Ramiro says that our fits are done this way. Steve: V2 ========= For the previous analysis he used Erik's event generator + GEANT+ PHOBOS V2 to produce a resolution correction. He is trying a sub event analysis in which he plots the average difference in the cosines in the two sub-events which depends on V2/sqrt(number of particles) Steve has got his flattening parameters done. He will see if this makes sense and then work on the real data. He is reworking his code to get it working again but also adding the subevent analysis. This should be less model dependent that what we have done so far. Kris: Wasn't able to work on pp this week Ramiro: Had generated all the d-A spectra that he needs and is now doing quality checks. He is trying to get as wide as possible Pt range. For protons he cannot get exact matches in rapidity but thinks he can extract physics from it by fitting a rapidity dependent slope. (For example y=2.8 and y=3.0) He is implimenting JH's idea to merge pions and kaons so that he can look at mesons/baryons. JH asked about "cross talk run". Ramiro says he gets consistency between the mid-rapidity and forward spectrometers. _______________________________________________ Brahms-l mailing list Brahms-l_at_lists.bnl.gov https://lists.bnl.gov/mailman/listinfo/brahms-lReceived on Fri Feb 05 2010 - 10:59:08 EST
