Minutes of BRAHMS analysis meeting 4th September 2009 ===================================================== http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=67690 Present: Flemming, JH, Ramiro, Steve, Kris and Michael There was a long discussion on Pawel's paper. Flemming collected up the comments and will send them to Pawel. Pawel will rewrite the abstract and do the final polishing before we submit. Updates from other papers. ========================= Steve has gotten stalled by the start of the semester. At mid-rapidity he has aggreement with Hong Yang and Phenix. However the different settings have differences of order 20%. He has improved the PID by taking out the contamination of the pion and kaons by binning in momentum and fitting the 1/beta distributions to 2 gaussians. Resolution is a variable but the separation between the peaks is fixed. This looks nice. He needs to make seperated contamination corrections for k+ and K-. He is also planning to include the ZDC information to study centrality. For d/p Casper has taken Flemming's macros and started to produce the correction factors. We discussed weather we need to correct for feed- down from Sigma which is a small additional correction. Flemming thought this was not necessary. For pp Kris said that he has worked on getting the net proton dN/dy by subtracting the pbars spectrum from the proton spectrum and then calculating dN/dy. This procedure seems to be systemattically 20% higher and the statistical errors are very small. There was a discussion about which fit, Levy or Boltzman to use. JH suggested fitting p and pbar and then subtracting the functions and then comparing that to the direct difference of the p and pbar. Kris will look into this. For k/pi paper JH thought that we need a native speaker such as Challis could go over it. ================= submitted by Michael Murray ============================ _______________________________________________ Brahms-l mailing list Brahms-l_at_lists.bnl.gov https://lists.bnl.gov/mailman/listinfo/brahms-lReceived on Fri Sep 04 2009 - 10:24:32 EDT
