Sincerely, Tim Hallman We report a measurement of the longitudinal double-spin asymmetry A_LL and the differential cross section for inclusive mid-rapidity jet production in polarized proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 200 GeV. The cross section data cover transverse momenta 5 < p_T < 50 GeV/c and agree with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD (NLO pQCD) evaluations. The spin asymmetry data, presented for jets with 5 < p_T < 17 GeV/c, disfavor large positive values of gluon polarization in the polarized nucleaon. -- Flemming Videbaek Brookhaven National Laboratory Physics Department tlf 631-344-4106 fax 631-344-1334 e-mail: videbaek_at_bnl.gov _______________________________________________ Brahms-l mailing list Brahms-l_at_lists.bnl.gov http://lists.bnl.gov/mailman/listinfo/brahms-lReceived on Wed Aug 02 2006 - 09:04:57 EDT
