Dear Collaborator, The 62.4 GeV pp run at RHIC for this year has just ended. Not surprisingly without a bang but rather a whisper, the beam died at 16.55 today with a 'beam unexpected aborted', a fitting end to this years run with the machine problems. Not a great run , but likely good enough to get significant data for reference spectra and transverse polarization. The analysis will show. I will like to thnak all that help in making this run a success from our side. All of those preparing the detector system, those taking the shifts, those preparing for analysing the data, but in particular JH who as run-coordinator spend many hours with the RHIC people in Monday,Tuesday and contact with the scheduling physicist to ensure we got our share of the running.
