[Brahms-l] DOE NP Budget

Dear Collaborator,

The FY06 budget process in Congress has moved forward, and with a bad outcome for Nuclear Physics and RHIC. The complete details have yet to propagate to the Laboratory, but since these bad news will certainly spread. I will keep you informed as accurately as possible. 
As said below this implies there will be no RHIC running this fiscal year (run 6), and most likely that the possibility to obtain the 62.4 GeV 
reference data is gone.

"Today the Conference Committee on the E&W bill reached agreement.  The results for NP are very bad.  We are back to the President's '06 budget request.  This will wipe out Run 6 and cost many BNL people their jobs. There will be more details on this Wednesday.
We may be able to salvage several weeks of operations to tack onto next year's run.
