                                   Conference Organization: New Developments

                                                                                                  July 29, 2005

Dear Colleagues:
There are several important developments in the organization of the program
for the 2005 meeting of the Particles and Nuclei International Conference,
PANIC, in Santa Fe. New Mexico.

Monday Evening Forum: We have added a Forum to discuss future
directions in physics research at high-energy accelerators.
The title will be "Physics at High Energies - Vision for the Future"
Fermilab and KEK have agreed to participate. Pier Oddone has
agreed to give a talk on his vision for the future research program at
Fermilab. Yoji Totsuka or his representative will discuss the vision
and plans at KEK. We are in the process of contacting speakers from
Europe.
The proposal to hold this forum at PANIC 05 has generated a very
positive response. We believe this will lead to a stimulating
discussion and should be of great interest to the international
participants at the Conference.

Abstract Submissions: The deadline for submission of abstracts has been
extended to August 17. This will give both more time for the preparation of
abstracts and more time to the conveners for the organization of the parallel
session programs. The topics for the twelve parallel sessions and their
conveners are listed on the Conference web site.

Speaker for the Plenary Program: Nearly all speakers and titles for the
Plenary Program have been identified. The full program can be reviewed at
the conference web site.

Student Program: There will be a vigorous program for graduate and
undergraduate students at the conference (see web site). The deadline for
Student Award requests has also been extended to August 17.

Hotels : Blocks of Rooms are being held at the Santa Fe Hilton, the
Eldorado Hotel, and the Hotel Santa Fe. The reduced conference rate will be
effective until September 12, 2005.

We invite you to join us for a week of stimulating physics in Santa Fe next
October.

Sincerely,
Peter D. Barnes
Martin D. Cooper
