====== Acting Scheduling Physicist -YIP (ie. A-SPY) news channel ======== Just a few last words before I sign off from the duty of Acting Scheduling Physicist ... *********************************************************************************************** (0) The schedule planned for the next 2 weeks for the combined NASA AGS and NSRL run is as follows: June 27 - July 1 : Fe ions for both NSRL and AGS July 2 - July 4 : C ions for AGS only July 5 - July 8 : Si ions for both NSRL and AGS *********************************************************************************************** (1) Busy endings ... (A) The beam in RHIC was dumped at 1 o'clock Sat. morning ----- the complete contigency was used (not surprisingly !). (B) The laser stripping experiment in the Radiation Effect Facility finished on Friday, shortly before the End of Run party had started. (C) There were a few last minute scheduling matters that I/we had to deal with : --- After a lot of discussions, the cold snake operation crew's desire to have a "solo" run in the weekend has necessarily moved the AGS work for the NASA run to Monday ; --- With the cooperation of quite a few people, we've managed to arrange a test to allow George (RHIC power supply group) to monitor from his end when Brahms' magnets was powered on/off. It took a bit longer than I thought but Mei was kind enough to let them eat up her beam experiment's time. --- Then, a water system guy jumped up and down in my office... Long story short, after clarifying things between quite a few people, the cold-snake group agreed to stop their operation no later than 10 pm on Sunday (Jun 26) so that people can start working for the water tower stuff in LINAC. --- Then came the news that "Tandem" needed time to deal with the sparking problem and actually they didn't deliver beam (with a different Tandem) to NSRL until ~6 pm on Friday. In the morning when the situation was so uncertain, I talked to the cold snake group about the possibility of having NSRL run on Sat. The initial surprise gradually became strong opposition :-) But actually, the cells were deteriorating by each hour and they're becoming less and less effective/meaningful for the radiological experiment as time went by. I mean, they couldn't possibly go into next day. At the end, NSRL finished just before midnight (before Sat.) --- 1 hour before RHIC had finished, ie., before the cold snake operation group could start their final ~45 hours opeartion. --- At the time of writing, the cold-snake operation is still on-going and they seem to have problem with the polarized source. . *********************************************************************************************** (2) The next Scheduling Physicist for the next 2 weeks ... Adam Rusek will be the Acting or de facto Scheduling Physicst from Monday (Jun 27, 2005) for the next 2 weeks of NASA runs in AGS/NSRL and Christoph should be back by then (?). Adam will hold a mini-Time Meeting on Tuesday at the usual time/location. *********************************************************************************************** ======= ====== ======= ======= ====== ======= ======= ====== ======= Kin Yip Micro-Management Ltd.
