Scheduling "Scheduling Physicist"... the 2nd End of run party ====== Acting Scheduling Physicist -YIP (ie. A-SPY) news channel ======== *********************************************************************************************** (0) There will be the 2nd last Time Meeting today (June 14, 2005) at 13:30 in the Snyder Room (911A). Somebody may show you how to strip electrons off hydrogen ions with laser .... *********************************************************************************************** (1) longitudinal -> transverse -> longitudinal After the Accelerator Physics Experiments finished last night (Monday), we changed into the mode of having transverse polarization for PHENIX and STAR. This is to study the single spin asymmetry for pi-zero's, which is similar to BRAHMS though BRAHMS is using charged pions. This mode of transverse polarization will end when PHENIX gets about 100 pb^(-1) of data or 60 hours (which should end at 10 am Thursday June 16, 2005), whichever comes first. After that, I go back to the mode of longitudinal polarization (ie., we turn on the spin rotators again). *********************************************************************************************** (2) Some Scheduling about the position of Scheduling Physicist Since you receive this email, I'm the Acting Scheduling Physicist until June 27, 2005. Christoph Montag is busy this week with the machine advisory review and then the RHIC retreat in Long Island. Then, next week, he needs to prepare for his coming baby production. On June 27, 2005, I'll travel to Romania to give a talk in a conference. So, Adam Rusek will be the "de facto" Scheduing Physicist, no matter whether he wants to call himself Acting Scheduling Physicist ... or non-acting ... or non-performing :-) There will be only the NASA programs (NSRL + AGS) anyway and he's in charge of all that anyway. *********************************************************************************************** (3) The end dates .... *** The polarized-proton RHIC run will end the midnight between June 24 (Friday) and June 25 (Sat.). ** So is the BLIP (Brookhaven LINAC Isotope Producer) program. ** There is a laser stripping program in the REF (Radiation Effect Facility). It may end at about the same time, but in any case no later than June 27, 2005 08:00 Monday (morning). They use much less power than BLIP. ** The NASA programs in NSRL and AGS will continue until July 8, 2005. *********************************************************************************************** (4) "End of Run" party for the polarized proton run The "End of Run" party will happen in the Physics Dept. courtyard on June 24, 2005 (Friday) at 4 pm. The location/time was apparently set a few weeks ago. I just heard it yesterday when people wanted to make use of me to collect "funding" for it. *********************************************************************************************** ======= ====== ======= ======= ====== ======= ======= ====== ======= Kin Yip Micro-Management Ltd.
