I will like to remind everyone about the safety rules surrounding electric work at RHIC when at the experiment. As I am sure you know the 'tools of the trade' work permission for BRAHMS collaborators on shift allows for work that involves low-voltage work using NIM,VME,osciloscopes and likewise equipment. The resetting of circuit breakers does not fall under these rules, in part because the access to energized circuits may cause sparks. This is a reminder that if power circuits do trip the current BRAHMS procedure is a) during weekday daytime operations to contact Bob Scheetz, and b) during offhours to contact MCR with assistance to perform reset. If in any doubt about the procedure contact the run-coordinator JHLee or me. Should there be a need to shut off power due to an emergency, the use of 'emergency power off' red buttom is the proper way to do this. I am sending this message not only to remind you, but also because there is an electric safety audit this week at BNL. In case asked just quote our policy, and sate you are qualified / reuqested to perform electric work. regards Flemming ---------------------------------------------------------------- Flemming Videbaek Physics Department Brookhaven National Laboratory e-mail: videbaek@bnl.gov phone: 631-344-4106 _______________________________________________ Brahms-l mailing list Brahms-l@lists.bnl.gov http://lists.bnl.gov/mailman/listinfo/brahms-lReceived on Tue Apr 19 20:29:47 2005
