Some information on RHIC machine progress.

- Some collisions were achieved over the weekend.
- The machine people will like to move into the next mode with routine operation overnight and to let experiment tune up the setups at the same time.
- This will start tomorrow owl shift, but this does not nesc. indicate that the 7-24 physics running starts earlier than according to the prev schedule on or about 1/25. Based on progress so far I will though expect so, and only short notice given to this effect.
- I have discussed with JH how to implement the startup.
-- We will schedule 'overnight shifts' with some trigger people (FV,JHL, SB, DB) available for part of this time either late evening or early morning. As we know from previous times data taken during this period will unlikely be used in the physics analysis later, but is mainly useful to identify problems with detectors etc.

-Several of you are scheduled to arrive shortly at BNL. With the progress listed abovfe, beam is in fact immenent; to make effecient use of your time here please make sure you take(retake) the nesccery training , in almost all cases as a Brahms shift leader.

regards
    Flemming
