Dear Collaborator,

The referee report on the rdA letter came back about 3 weeks ago. In
reading the report you have probably noticed that the editor has not
given a recommended action due to the serious criticism of the data
themselves raised by referee B. No doubt the data and paper have been
given extra scrutiny due to the importance on the relation to the gluon
saturation picture.

The response and criticism have been examined in great detail by Ramiro
an the BNL group. We would like to report back to the collaboration at
large at this point in time.

We find, indeed, the RdA and the spectra are inconsistent.
The details of the analysis are given in the enclosed, rather lengthy
document. The key finding from an exhaustive re-analysis and evaluation
of the data are
-	The RdA and the spectra are inconsistent. This comes exclusively from
the pp spectrum and the referee has indeed caught a mistake.
-	The significant change for the n=3.2 pp spectrum is at large pt.
-	Minor changes (less that stat errors on points) has emerged from the
analysis on the RdA ratios and other spectra presented.
-	The consistency of the analysis has been checked for the data in the
report.
-	The pp spectrum on the brahms web page has been removed and will be
replaced once we decide all checks have been done.

We plan to proceed completing a response to the editor on this main
point, and on others, that in our opinion, minor points raised by the
referees, noting the both call the measurement significant and say that
it should be published in PRL. We are pursuing further analysis and
considerations to make sure the final data are stable. Since the data
have changed slightly between DNP, QM and the publication we have to
proceed with caution.

At this point we solicit additional input from the collaboration
through careful reading of the referee report and the conclusions
reached in the attached document. The aim is to have a response
submitted in 2 weeks.

Best regards
Flemming and Ramiro
