Update on today's Network connectivity problems: Network Engineering and CyberSecurity have been tracking down what appears to be infected systems which have been effectively creating a denial of service against the perimeter firewall. SMTP proxies and and web proxies have been continuing to operate today, but traffic through the firewall itself has been affected, with a CPU utilization of the firewall of near 100%. The network in general has been experiencing slowness as a result of the increased traffic. Several suspected infected devices have been identified and certain switch ports have been disabled to alleviate the denial of service; however, firewall CPU utilization may still creep up as newly-affected systems potentially appear on the network. CyberSecurity is out in the field following up on infected machines, and Network Engineering is continuing to monitor the network and track down further infected machines. _________________________ Original Message _______________________ Summary of Outage - Please be advised that Network Engineering is currently investigating an apparent disconnect from the Internet.
