Dear Collaborator,
I will not attempt to summarize the RHIC retreat that took place over the last 3 days. I attended a good part of Monday and
this afternoon's sumamry sessions. All talks can be found via the CA-D home page. Let me though briefly mention a few
point that are important for the upcoming runs.

a) Choice of species.
    - The thought form each exp was base on the 31 weeks guidance
- Phenix: 200 GeV Ni + 200 GeV pp 10+10 weeks physics running- since the goals for e.g. J.psi can be obtained in less thatn 10 weeks there were suggestions for alternate running e.g Ni at 240 GeV (due to lower Z/A) or assymetric Ni+Au

- STAR
   200 GeV Cu+Cu followed by 200 GeV pp

- Phobos
   200 GeV Si, + 1-2 weeks 63 GeV si + 1 day 19.6 GeV si

-Brahms
  Since we have not made up our mind we mentione
  a) lighter Beam species (si,or Cu) + enough pp to do Ann measurements
  b) a wish to have additional 62 GeV running

  Outlook: It seems like LI ~9-10 weeks + pp at 200 for another 10 weeks, detaiuls pending on the RBUP

b) The startup plans for experiment is
   cooldown October 1 !!!
   => beam setup 10/15-10/30
   => ramp up 11/1-11/15 (i.e beam dev + exp at owl shifts0
  ==> physics running start on or about 11/15 with ` 10 weeks HI
        ending on ~ Feb 1
      3 weeks pp setup
      2 weeks rampup + ~ 10 week beam -> May 1
Outlook:

Run-05 will start mid-November much earlier than last year. Be prepared both for an early setup as well
as for taking shifts.

c) a few misc items that has implications for work, operating
   - strong desire to go to store length.. that are determine by MCR and not by voting
   - desire from CAD to have more control over ZDC's -
   - desire from MCR to have vertex (longitudinal information available)
   - desire to have a drop-dead day (befire startup) after which no significant IR work can take place.

regards
    Flemming
